Search Fulton County Released Inmates

Fulton County released inmates leave the live jail view, but their release event may remain in county booking data, court records, or another custody system. To search for Fulton County released inmates, first identify whether the person left county jail, entered Georgia prison custody, moved to federal or immigration custody, or began supervision. Fulton County released inmates may have a release date and type that show bond, time served, probation, dismissal, or transfer. A careful Fulton County released inmate search compares the record that ended custody with the system that may hold or supervise the person next.

Fulton County Released Inmates

The main jail is the central intake point for Fulton bookings. The Sheriff's jail information says an arrested person is first brought here for property intake, a medical screen, fingerprints, a photograph, and a warrants check. A completed booking can end in bond, time served, probation, transfer to the Georgia Department of Corrections, transfer to another agency, a program move, extradition, or another coded result. Those outcomes are not interchangeable. A release to the community ends confinement, while a transfer ends only Fulton custody.

The official Share Fulton record uses a release date and release type to describe that change. It also identifies the booking location, booking number, delivery agency, charges, bond details, court information, and days in custody when those fields are present. A family member trying to meet someone should confirm both the stated release type and the destination. Court orders and holds can affect the final result even after a bond or sentence event appears complete.

Important: Disappearance from the daily roster can mean release, transfer, annex placement, or delayed data. It is not proof of community release.

Georgia Laws on Fulton Releases

Georgia public-records law permits access to existing nonexempt agency records, but it does not make every jail or court detail public. O.C.G.A. Section 50-18-71 governs timing and allowable costs for search, retrieval, redaction, and copies. Ask for an estimate and describe the exact booking event.

Court records can remain after jail custody ends. Credit for time served under O.C.G.A. Section 17-10-11 may help explain a time-served result, while record restriction can later change public visibility. The Sheriff's release type and the clerk's disposition serve different functions and should be reconciled.

Note: A records law supplies access rules; it does not turn a current roster into a historical release archive.

Fulton Release Types Explained

Release type determines what “released” means. Fulton's structured data includes community outcomes and custody handoffs. Read the code with the release date and location.

Release typeMeaningNext check
Surety, cash, or signature bondThe booking ended under a bond orderFulton court file and release date
Time served or suspended sentenceCustody ended through sentence credit or court actionSentencing disposition
Probation or continued probationJail ended while supervision may continueCourt order and DCS or local probation
Nolle prossed, dismissal, or declined prosecutionA prosecutor or court event ended the custody basisCertified court disposition
Transfer to DOC or return to prisonFulton custody ended but Georgia custody continuedGDC Find an Offender
Transfer, extradition, or programAnother agency or placement may hold the personReceiving agency record

A release from Fulton custody is not always freedom from all custody. Use “community release” only when the coded result and later records support it.

What Fulton Release Records Show

The county release record is structured booking data, not a narrative discharge certificate. The essential fields connect the custody event to its outcome.

FieldWhat it shows
BookingDateStart of the recorded booking event
ReleaseDateRecorded date and time Fulton custody ended
ReleaseTypeBond, sentence, probation, transfer, court, or other reason
DeliveryAgencyAgency that brought the person into the system
LocationMain jail, annex, city center, or other placement value
DaysinCustodyLength measure attached to the booking

The public API sample does not expose a name field. It is strongest for dates, patterns, places, and reasons. Preserve a booking number from the sheriff's current search when possible, then use it to request person-specific confirmation.

Fulton Release Statistics Snapshot

The official dataset is large enough to show local patterns. A July 15, 2026 research snapshot counted 291,464 booking rows and 288,517 rows with release dates. It found 22,967 releases in 2025 and 22,749 in 2024. Surety bond and transfer to another agency were among the leading release types.

Those figures are dated measurements, not a live counter. They show why Fulton County released inmates cannot be treated as one kind of outcome. Bond events, transfers, probation outcomes, and court dispositions all make up the public release history. A fresh query may return different totals as records are added or corrected.

Note: Dataset counts describe booking events, not a count of unique people.

Fulton Bond-Out Release Timing

Fulton's bond process has its own clock. FCSO says first-appearance results reach Booking from the Clerk around 4:00 p.m. each day. Callers asking about newly arrested people are told to wait for those results. Cash bonds are processed 24 hours, while screening for supervised release on recognizance can take longer.

Bond approval does not mark the moment a person exits. Payment, warrants checks, court transmission, and final booking work must be complete. FCSO lists 404-613-2002 and 404-662-3516 for bond and new-arrest information. The Rice Street front desk is open 24 hours.

Fulton Property After Release

Property can follow a different timeline than custody. FCSO says an inmate may release property to family or friends only after signing a form that names the recipient. The recipient must present government photo identification. Processing usually takes 48 hours.

A person may therefore be out while property remains in the jail process. Confirm the signed authorization and pickup status before traveling. This rule concerns personal property, not the release record itself, and it should not be read as evidence that custody continues.

Restricted Fulton Release Records

O.C.G.A. Section 35-3-37 governs Georgia criminal-history record restriction. Restriction and sealing can reduce public visibility after release even when the event occurred. Juvenile, sealed, medical, victim-identifying, and other confidential material may also be withheld.

Georgia's Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. Section 50-18-70 et seq., is a request channel, not a promise that every field is public. Section 50-18-71 generally requires production of existing, nonexempt records within a reasonable time not exceeding three business days, or an agency response describing records and timing. It does not require a new release certificate to be created.

Find Fulton County Released Inmates

Begin with the Fulton County Jail Bookings dataset. Its description states that it holds a record for each booking into a Fulton detention facility since January 2014 and includes release date and reason when a person has been released. Search by the full name, then reconcile date of birth, booking number, booking date, and location. Similar names can otherwise lead to the wrong event.

  1. Find the booking that matches the person and arrest episode.
  2. Read ReleaseDate, ReleaseType, and Location together.
  3. Compare the FCSO inmate search, which concerns current custody and is updated once daily.
  4. Check the applicable Fulton court file for bond, sentence, dismissal, or transfer action.
  5. Use Georgia VINE or request the booking and release record when the online fields conflict.

Use 24-Hour Releases for a recent date window and Release Date Lookup when the question concerns projected timing. A state-prison transfer belongs in GDC Find an Offender, not merely the county roster.

Request Fulton Release Records

When a public row lacks needed detail, ask the Fulton County Sheriff's Office for the booking and release material tied to the exact booking number. Georgia's Open Records Act provides the request framework, though protected details can be withheld. Give the person's full name, date of birth if known, arrest or booking date, booking number, and the precise fields sought. A narrow request is easier to identify than a request for every file bearing a common name.

Fulton County Jail

901 Rice Street NW
Atlanta, GA 30318
404-613-2000

The main front desk is open 24 hours daily. The jail page separately lists 404-613-2002 and 404-662-3516 for newly arrested people and bond information.

For formal records routing, the FCSO contact page lists the Sheriff's Office at 185 Shirley C. Franklin Blvd. SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303, and 404-612-5100. Ask the originating court for its order rather than asking jail staff to interpret a case outcome.

Note: The jail phone may confirm a routing point, but the written booking record is the stronger source for the recorded release type.

Fulton Release Facility Mapping

The Fulton jail system extends beyond Rice Street. The U.S. Department of Justice findings report identifies the main jail with South Fulton or South Annex, Alpharetta or North Annex, and Marietta Annex. The Sheriff also lists Marietta Annex and Atlanta City Detention Center contacts. Share Fulton location values include those sites plus out-of-county placements.

This map matters after a release inquiry. A person can leave the main building yet remain under Fulton authority in an annex or contract bed. Search the booking history by identity and number, not just by the place a caller last knew. If the location changes with no release type, treat it as movement. If a release date is paired with transfer to another agency, locate the receiving system before assuming the person can be met in the community.

What if the booking says “Out of County”? It describes a placement in the Fulton data, not a separate public release list. FCSO records may be needed to identify the receiving agency.

Fulton ICE and Federal Handoffs

Fulton release research must account for immigration and federal handoffs. A detainer is a request or hold from another agency. It can cause a person to leave county custody without becoming free. Start with the county release type. Then use the receiving system supported by the record or court file.

The ICE Online Detainee Locator accepts an alien registration number and country of birth or biographical search details. ICE also publishes an FCI Atlanta detention contact page. It tells callers seeking detainee information to use 404-893-1290 and have the registration number and country of birth, or the person's name, aliases, birth date, and country of birth. A federal criminal transfer may instead require the BOP locator or federal court docket.

Note: A Fulton release date closes the county event; it does not erase a state, federal, immigration, or other county hold.

Why Fulton Release Processing Waits

Release processing can take time after legal eligibility. The Sheriff's jail page says timing is affected by the number of arrestees and the availability of state and national database information. Staff must complete checks and administrative steps before a person leaves. A database row may also lag a real-world event, while the current-inmates snapshot reflects roughly the prior evening rather than a live doorway count.

Use more than one timestamp. Compare the court action, recorded release date, roster update, and any VINE notice. Georgia VINE offers custody-status checks and notifications, but an alert is a supplement, not the official release document. If pickup plans are time sensitive, call the facility and avoid treating a projected hour as guaranteed.

Release
The end of a specific custody event, whether to the community or another legal status.
Transfer
Movement to another facility or agency while custody continues.
Detainer
A hold or request that may prevent community release.
Discharge
Completion of a sentence or supervision obligation, depending on the record.

Search GDC Released Offenders

A Fulton release type of transferred to DOC, transferred with pending charges, or return to state prison sends the search to the Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender channel. GDC says the tool can show facility location and release date. Search by name and available identifiers, then distinguish a tentative date from an actual discharge or parole event.

The official GDC information page is shown below.

Fulton Court Release Verification

Jail data records custody administration. The court file records the legal act behind bond, dismissal, time served, probation, or sentence. The Fulton Clerk Find a Case gateway separates Magistrate and State judicial searches from Superior Court records.

Magistrate Court handles first appearances and early criminal matters. State Court handles many misdemeanors, while Superior Court handles felonies and other general-jurisdiction cases. Follow the charge to the correct division. Look for a bond order, sentencing entry, nolle prosequi, dismissal, probation order, or final disposition that agrees with the county release type.

Fulton Supervision and Reentry Checks

Parole, probation, and discharge are different. Parole is supervised release from a prison sentence. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence or supervision term. Discharge means the relevant custody or supervision obligation has ended.

Use the Georgia parolee search for parole status and the Department of Community Supervision for felony parole or probation. The DCS Atlanta Field Office serves Fulton and the Atlanta Circuit at 276 Memorial Drive SW, phone 404-463-0410, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. DCS also publishes a reentry resource directory with Fulton entries. Those contacts help with supervision and services; they are not county release databases.

Fulton VINE Release Notifications

Georgia VINE supplies person-specific custody status and change alerts. FCSO lists GA Fulton VINE at 877-994-8463 for custody searches and telephone or email notification registration. The statewide Georgia source lists 1-833-216-6670.

A VINE notice is a useful alert, not the release certificate. Compare it with the booking release date, release type, and court event. VINE does not replace BOP for federal custody or GDC records for a state-prison discharge.

Fulton Facility Release Map

The DOJ findings report identifies the Fulton jail system as the main jail plus annexes including South Fulton or South Annex, Alpharetta or North Annex, and Marietta Annex. Share Fulton also uses Atlanta City Detention Center and out-of-county location values. Leaving Rice Street can be a move within Fulton custody.

The twelve mapped release paths include county facilities and annexes, out-of-county beds, Georgia transitional and reentry facilities, FCI Atlanta, and U.S. Marshals custody. County releases use Fulton booking data. GDC facilities use the state offender search. FCI Atlanta and Marshals cases use federal records. Match the page and locator to the legal custodian.

Fulton Released Inmate Search Order

Start with custody type, not a broad name search. A county booking, Georgia prison sentence, federal case, and immigration detention use separate records. For a Fulton jail event, check the sheriff's current-custody search first and save the booking number and date. Then read Share Fulton release date, release type, and location. Absence from the daily roster alone does not prove release.

  1. Match the person to the correct booking with name, birth date, booking number, and date.
  2. Read ReleaseDate and ReleaseType together to separate community outcomes from transfers.
  3. Check the correct court division for the order behind bond, sentence, dismissal, or probation.
  4. Move to GDC, BOP, ICE, or another county when the Fulton record shows a handoff.
  5. Use VINE for an alert and the responsible records office for written confirmation.

If online data conflicts, submit a narrow FCSO request. Ask for the existing public booking and release fields, including booking date, release date and time, release type, facility, delivery agency, public bond or court reference, and public transfer destination. Include enough identifiers to prevent a false match and request a fee estimate before costs are incurred.

Important: A released person usually leaves the current jail list; the release record and receiving system explain what happened next.
